I don’t what the director’s intentions here but there is just an utter coldness in this film and its characters. Maybe he doesn’t want it to be melodramatic or overly sentimental but it doesn’t mean no tenderness or heart. There is just nothing to feel. And why do you use this kind of music for a folk song film???
