Probably my favourite slap in cinema. Joan of Arc 2025 feels like a companion piece to The Love That Remains, released the same year by Hlynur Pálmason. With its glimpse of an absent father, the film is both quietly funny and charged with uncertainty. It refuses to pin anything down, not searching for meaning so much as revelling in the sensation of what meaning might feel like.
